What the three axes are — and what they are not

They are not parallel business areas. They are not monetized hobbies. They are not diversified income streams.

They are three territories of life that constantly feed back into each other, each with its own logic, its own mental state, and its own way of producing security. The difference between having them as a system and having them as a list of activities is the same as that between a tripod and three sticks leaning against a wall — the three sticks seem more stable until something touches them.

Axis 1 — The Profession: intellect and Smart Money

It is the financial engine. Where analysis, technology, and project structuring become high-ticket value. In my case: automation with n8n, AI implementation, ESG consulting, rural project management, the Sovereign Hub with its 25 containers in Oracle Cloud.

This axis pays the big bills and finances the long-term vision — including the self-sustaining peri-urban farm in Tolima that is the horizon of Axis 3.

But it has a structural vulnerability that is worth naming bluntly: it occurs almost entirely behind a screen. It is the world of bits — scalable, but prone to mental fatigue, disconnection from the physical, and digital volatility. When abstraction becomes too dense, the whole system starts to need something that the screen cannot provide.

That’s where the second axis comes in.

Axis 2 — The Manual Craft: hands as grounding cable

It encompasses physical and tangible work: carpentry, minimalist space design, construction of geodesic domes — Espacios Plus. Knowing how to transform matter grants a sovereignty that no change in terms of service, no government directive, and no digital market crash can revoke.

The smell of sawdust clears the mind of digital saturation in a way that no productivity technique can achieve. It forces you to be present — completely present — because in manual craft there is no Control+Z. If you miscalculate the angle of a geodesic dome, the structure collapses. If you cut a piece of Walnut Coffee wrong, the material is wasted. That irreversibility teaches humility in a way that the screen does not.

And when the digital economy suffers, servers crash, or a B2B client delays payments to 90 days — the wood is still there. The craft allows for immediate and honest value exchange without platforms, without APIs, without latency, without dependence on infrastructure controlled by someone else.

Axis 3 — Purpose and Hobby: the refuge that is not monetized

This is the axis that is hardest to explain in market terms because its logic is not market-based.

There is a more precise name for this that Taleb does not provide, because the resilience of systems and the sense of life are different questions. This axis, without us knowing it at first, was already operating as ikigai in its authentic Japanese sense — not the viral diagram of four circles that circulates on social media, but the real concept documented in Okinawa: something small and everyday that gives a reason to stay awake, without needing to generate income, recognition, or market validation. Origami, biking in the mountains, high-fidelity music — and the angelita beehives, before they became a financial model — are examples of that ikigai operating before we had the right language to name it. And it has something more: it acts as invisible training that feeds the other two axes without the friction of money.

How the three axes feed back into each other

This is the part that took me the longest to articulate until I started observing it closely.

The three axes not only coexist — they transfer skills, perspectives, and energy in ways that are not always obvious from the outside.

From purpose to profession: the passion for high-fidelity audio trains the brain to seek the pure signal and eliminate noise. That same philosophy literally applies to corporate data processing and designing automation flows where the problem is always distinguishing what matters from what distracts.

From craft to profession: the patience and geometric precision that origami demands — folding without margin for error, where each fold determines the final shape — is exactly the same logic needed to structure a complex financial model or a relational database without breaking. The hands teach the head not to lie.

From territory to projects: biking through the mountains of Tolima teaches how to read the real topography of the territory. That physical and accumulated knowledge nourishes projects like Iwagé with a viability that no desk analysis can replicate — because the difference between a farm with tourism potential and one without it is sometimes decided by a detail that can only be learned by walking.

The interconnection guarantees something that no axis produces alone: when the digital economy collapses, the hands and the workshop ensure sustenance. When physical work exhausts the body, intellect and data take over. And when the whole world goes into chaos, the silence of the mountain, a good piece of music, or a simple piece of paper to fold protect emotional health.

What happened during the Fable 5 episode

In June 2026, when Anthropic disabled Fable 5 and the technological axis of the Sovereign Hub underwent architectural review, the other two axes did not stop.

The craft axis continued: a multifunctional piece of furniture for a client of Espacios Plus was in process. The purpose axis also continued: field records in the angelita beehives, behavior observations, coordinates of capture traps in Ambalá — work that requires physical presence, not connection to Anthropic's servers.

No axis waited for the one under pressure. That was not explicit prior design — it was the natural consequence of having built three real capacities with their own logics. The partial collapse of one did not destroy the whole. It forced it to pivot towards a more solid foundation, exactly as Taleb describes antifragile systems do.

Four questions to know where you stand

Before building or adjusting your own axes:

Does your main economic engine depend on a platform or technology that you do not control? If the answer is yes, you have income but no real sovereignty over the axis.

If the internet were to go down for a week tomorrow, what could you build with your hands that someone else would need today? If there is no clear answer, Axis 2 is absent.

Do you have something you do with genuine patience, without urgency for return, without anyone asking you for it? If everything you do has a price or deadline, Axis 3 has probably been absorbed by the other two.

When one of your axes goes into crisis, do the other two continue on their own? If the answer is no, what you have are parallel activities, not a system.

What is still unresolved

Axis 3 is the least developed in infrastructure. The peri-urban farm in Tolima — the point where food and technological sovereignty physically converge — is still not built. The meliponary in Ambalá with 30 beehives in a network is the first concrete step in that direction.

The system works with two and a half axes. It works better when the third is complete. Documenting it this way is not modesty — it is precision about the real state of the system in June 2026, and it is consistent with the philosophy that the node describes: not building on what you hope to have, but on what you have.

Antifragility is not a state that is achieved — it is a practice that is sustained. The most honest question is not 'Am I resilient?' but 'What part of who I am today survives if the part that matters most to me stops functioning tomorrow?' The answer to that is the map of what still needs to be built.
